On Sunday, Iran responded to the latest U.S. proposal—brokered by Pakistan—to end the war in Iran, but U.S. President Donald Trump quickly took to social media to reject the offer, calling it “totally unacceptable!” This marks the latest setback in efforts to resolve the standoff in the Persian Gulf.

Iranian state television reported that Tehran rejected the U.S. proposal, viewing it as tantamount to surrender, and instead insisted that the U.S. pay war reparations, recognize Iran’s full sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, lift sanctions, and release seized Iranian assets.

Iranian state television also reported that Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, issued new decisive orders during a meeting with the head of the Joint Military Command, calling for the continuation of combat operations and a strong stand against the enemies.
