On Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia had launched at least 800 drones at around 20 regions in Ukraine during the day, killing at least six people and injuring dozens, including children. This was one of the longest-lasting attacks launched by Moscow in the four-year war.
Zelenskyy said on the messaging app Telegram that the attacks began in mid-morning and continued for several hours in the capital, Kyiv, the western city of Lviv near Poland, the Black Sea port of Odessa and other population centres.
This has also caused concern among neighbours. Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar said that his new government had summoned the Russian ambassador over drone attacks near the Hungarian border, marking a significant shift from the friendly relations his predecessor, Viktor Orbán, had enjoyed with Moscow.
