Earlier Thursday, the United States intensified its strikes against Iran, targeting locations further north, while U.S. forces also opened fire on a vessel accused of attempting to breach its naval blockade of the Islamic Republic of Iran. In retaliation, Iran launched missiles and drones at Bahrain and Kuwait before dawn.
In recent days, the back-and-forth attacks between the U.S. and Iran in the Middle East, along with new threats to the Strait of Hormuz, have shattered the interim agreement to end the war with Iran and may plunge the region back into all-out war. Iranian officials say U.S. airstrikes have killed more than 35 people and injured more than 300.
Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and chief negotiator, said that if the U.S. fails to fulfill the terms of the interim agreement, Iran is prepared to engage in a more comprehensive military confrontation.
