On Tuesday, the United States and Iran clashed over whether Tehran would agree to allow the United Nations to inspect its nuclear facilities. U.S. President Donald Trump said that if Iran does not agree to the inspections, he will immediately suspend negotiations with Tehran. However, he added that there is no rush to begin these inspections.

As the two sides remained at odds, the Iranian president met with a Pakistani mediator and technical teams from the U.S. and Iran continued their talks in Switzerland.

Meanwhile, a separate plan to alleviate shipping bottlenecks in the Strait of Hormuz has emerged. A United Nations agency said Tuesday that it is developing a plan to allow stranded ships and their thousands of crew members to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Currently, ship traffic is on the rise, but the question of who controls this waterway remains unresolved.
