Iran’s new leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei issued his first public statement on Thursday, vowing to continue the fight, promising more pain for Gulf Arab nations, and threatening to open “other fronts” in a war that has already disrupted global energy supplies, the world economy, and international travel.

In a statement read by a state television news anchor, Khamenei said he was maintaining a “file of revenge.” The new supreme leader was wounded in an attack at his home, though his injuries were not serious. People hope he will be able to attend next week’s large Eid prayer organized by the state and traditionally presided over by his father.

Khamenei also stated that Iran is exploring the opening of “other fronts in which the enemy has little experience and would be highly vulnerable”.

However, Khamenei remains a target for Israelis, who have vowed to kill him.Netanyahu condemned Khamenei as a “puppet of the Revolutionary Guards.”
