On Thursday, a United Nations agency suspended evacuation operations for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz after the British military reported that a vessel had been struck by a projectile near the coast of Oman. A U.S. official said that the ship was struck by an Iranian drone.
The head of the International Maritime Organization said that the plan to transport the stranded vessels out of the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz will be suspended until the agency can confirm that the vessels on the evacuation list and those in the region are safe.
Meanwhile, clashes erupted in Lebanon between Israeli forces and Hezbollah militants backed by Iran, threatening the broader ceasefire. Lebanon says five people have been killed in Israeli strikes over the past two days.
