On Wednesday, Iran rejected the U.S. plan to halt the war in the Middle East and launched further attacks against Israel and Arab states in the Gulf.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview with state television that the Iranian government has not been involved in negotiations to end the war, “and we do not plan on any negotiations.”

Speaking at a fundraising event in Washington on Wednesday evening, U.S. President Donald Trump insisted that Iran still wanted to reach a deal.

Officials in Egypt and Pakistan have said that mediators are working to facilitate potential face-to-face talks between Iran and the United States, which could take place as early as Friday in Pakistan.

Press TV, the English-language broadcaster of Iranian state television, cited the five-point proposal put forward by Iran, which includes a halt to the killing of Iranian officials, measures to prevent future attacks on Iran, compensation for the war, an end to hostilities, and Iran’s exercise of sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.
