For a second day, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the United States was negotiating with Iran to end the war, whilst diplomatic efforts intensified on Tuesday and Iran issued a new provocative statement.

Meanwhile, more U.S. troops are preparing to deploy to the Middle East. At least 1,000 soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division will be sent in the coming days. Thousands of marines have already been deployed to the region. The deployment of the Marine Corps in the region has sparked speculation that the U.S. may be attempting to seize Kharg Island, which is vital to Iran’s oil network. 

Pakistan has offered to host diplomatic talks, but Iran has vowed to fight “until complete victory.” It remains unclear who within the Iranian government has the authority or is willing to negotiate, as Israel has vowed to continue targeting them following the assassination of several leaders.
